Robin to perform with TV and film legend – Roger Lloyd Pack

As part of the Salthouse 05 festival, Robin will join his favourite bass player Graeme Howell to provide improvised jazz support to famed British actor Roger Lloyd Pack and published poet, Jehane Markham, in Salthouse Church, North Norfolk on July 31st.

Roger Lloyd Pack’s widespread UK fame was sealed following parts on TV such as Trigger in ‘Only Fools and Horses’ and Owen in ‘The Vicar of Dibly’ and has recently finished filming the new Harry Potter film in which he plays Barty Crouch.

Jehane Markham is a poet and playwright who has recently released her new poetry collection, 30 Poems. Robin performs with Graeme and Jehane Markham in a modern poetry jazz collective called JMT (Jehane Markham Trio), in which Jehane’s poetry performs a rhythmic role in the trio. See below for details of the group’s recording to be available later in 2005. For more information about Jehane Markham visit www.roughwinds.co.uk.

April 2005

The solo album is named

Robin’s new solo album, to be launched during the summer, will be called ‘The Last Bar’. Originally with the working title of ‘Me and My Piano’, ‘The Last Bar’ was felt to encapsulate the type of venues that would provide a suitable home for the music of Robin’s latest recordings. The many different meanings of the title along with the image of a basement jazz bar in the early hours of the morning with Robin playing the piano in the corner helped to provide the new name for the CD.

New solo CD finishes editing stages

Following months of recording, the editing, mixing and mastering of Robin’s new CD, The Last Bar, was finished this week by GWR multi-award-winning radio producer Mark ‘Brainz’ Hitchings. Robin and Mark have worked together for years on different projects and Mark couldn’t wait to take up the opportunity to work on Robin’s latest album.

Robin has teamed up with his favourite bass player, Graeme Howell, and phenomenal British poet, Jehane Markham, to record an eclectic album which fuses solo poetry, jazz duo numbers and trio pieces in which Robin and Graeme support Jehane’s poetry with arrangements of classic jazz standards.

Robin will perform with Jehane and Graeme in the summer and the CD will be available to buy later this year. For further information about Jehane Markham visit www.roughwinds.co.uk
