CMJ Jazz Lounge ft. Sam Mayne

Robin continues his ‘Jazz Lounge’ series with Cambridge Modern Jazz on Thursday 11th April at Hidden Rooms in Cambridge city centre. The house band features Robin on piano / vocals, Derek Scurll on drums and Joel Humann on bass.

The special guest in April is the phenominal young alto sax player, Sam Mayne. Sam is a member of the BBC Big Band, Stan Tracey Octet, Guy Barker Orchestra and formerly the John Dankworth big band. He appears regularly at Ronnie Scott’s Club and was a Perrier award winner in 2000 for Best Band with his own quartet.

The evening also features a jazz jam, where local musicians can join the band to try out their own improvising skills.

Back to Switzerland for more Duelling Pianos

Robin returns to Lausanne, Switzerland in April for two weeks of Duelling Pianos performances with Duelling Pianos partner, Franky Flame. The performances will take place nightly Tues – Sat at Kingsize piano bar between 15th and 25th April..

In the studio recording new album

Robin is currently recording his new album, a sing / play vocalese album inspired by the music and vocalese writing of legendary jazz singer, King Pleasure. The album will feature some of the UK’s most exciting jazz musicians, including Tim Thornton on bass and Chris Draper on drums. Special guests to appear on the album include the legendary international jazz singers Ian Shaw and Anita Wardell, and top UK jazz instrumentalists Brandon Allen, Steve Fishwick, Sam Mayne, and Albert Garza.
