New venue: The Archduke

Robin will start performing at a new venue in London this month: The Archduke on the Southbank, near Waterloo Station. The Archduke has a long history of jazz and puts on live music throughout the week. Robin’s first performance at The Archduke is on Saturday 4th September, 7pm-9pm, as a duo with Vilem Hais on bass. Robin will also be performing solo at The Archduke on Sunday 26th September. On both occasions, Robin will be playing and singing jazz standards and showcasing tunes from his upcoming new CD. NEW CD: Recording underway

Robin is in the recording studio this week recording his new CD, to be launched in November. The album features the Robin Phillips Trio including Claire Brock on drums and Vilem Hais on bass. There are also a number of guest artists appearing on various tracks (see below).

Four gigs in two days!

Robin will be performing four times in 24 hours this weekend (25th-26th September). The first performance is with the Jehane Markham Trio (JMT) featuring for the first time Natalie Rozario on cello as part of the Ham & High Festival. The group will perform their original piece, ‘Vladivostok to Moscow’, which presents Jehane’s original poetry to musical compositions depicting a journey on the famous Russian railway. On Saturday evening Robin will perform with Vil Hais at Shanghai Blues in Holborn.

On Sunday, Robin performs with jazz vocalist Sarah Ellen-Hughes at the famous RAC Club on Pall Mall, as part of the venue’s Sunday lunch jazz series (members only). Then, later that day Robin performs two solo sets at the renowned London jazz venue, The Archduke, under the arches between Waterloo station and the Royal Festival Hall.
