Following 30 years of developing his skills as a singer, pianist, and jazz musician, Robin Phillips now offers the following tuition in the Cambridge area:
- One-to-one teaching – piano, singing, jazz theory
- Ensemble coaching
- Audition mentoring and preparation
- Repertoire building
- Performance coaching
- Becoming a professional musician
Having studied and practised the skills of live and studio performance in the jazz, pop, and musicals genres, including 10 years as a full-time professional, Robin has not only learned many skills, but also had to overcome traditional issues associated with full-time performance. Overcoming these obstacles throughout his own career has given Robin valuable insight into issues faced by other performers, enabling him to identify and work-through development areas in other artists.
Robin currently teaches students from 8 to 80 years old and is always interested to hear from people looking to learn or develop their musical skills.
“Robin has transformed my piano playing over the last 18 months, and every session I have with him opens a new door. His passion for jazz, ability to explain quite complex approached to jazz harmony in simple terms, and his relaxed style make our lessons stimulating, challenging and lots of fun.” Stephen, 63, jazz student.
“Sophie has only been learning the piano since last year and I am so impressed with the progress she has made. Robin’s lessons are always fun and interesting and she looks forward to them every week.” Parent of Sophie, 11, beginner piano student.
